Hindustan Zinc's ₹5,000 Cr Fertilizer Game Changer

Hindustan Zinc is set to establish the first phosphate fertiliser manufacturing facility in both Rajasthan and North India, with a planned investment of approximately ₹5,000 crore.

Located in Chittorgarh, the upcoming plant aims to bridge the region’s fertiliser supply–demand gap while reducing reliance on imports and long-distance transportation. Announcing the development at the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas event, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal highlighted the initiative’s benefits for farmers, including improved crop yields and enhanced agricultural productivity. “We have completed 80% of the plant, and it is expected to be operational within the next three months,” he said.

The facility is being developed in two phases and will have a total annual production capacity of one million tonnes. It will manufacture key fertilisers such as di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK), and ammonium phosphate sulphate, all crucial for supporting crop growth across diverse agricultural zones.

In addition, Hindustan Zinc is working to strengthen small and medium zinc enterprises by developing the Zinc International Industrial Park, designed to host 200 new industries. Agarwal emphasised that the project supports the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision and will generate substantial employment opportunities.
