PCBL's ₹16,000 Crore Ambition: A 50% Production Boost

PCBL Chemical, India’s largest carbon black manufacturer and a part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, has announced plans to expand its production capacity by 50% over the next five years.

The expansion strategy includes brownfield growth in Tamil Nadu, a greenfield facility in Andhra Pradesh, and enhancement of its specialty black portfolio. This multi-pronged approach aims to strengthen PCBL’s leadership across all product lines.

“Battery chemicals will be a key growth driver as we build an integrated ecosystem around nano silicon, acetylene black, and super-conductive grades,” the company stated in a recent investor update. By FY 2030, specialty chemicals are projected to account for 45% of total revenue.

PCBL is also investing in next-generation chemistries, including:

Superconductive carbon materials, Green chelates and biodegradable polymers, A nano-silicon pilot plant, targeted for commissioning by FY 2027

The company’s global footprint spans 70 countries, with export volumes having tripled over the past decade. On the sustainability front, PCBL operates 122 MW of cogeneration capacity, helping offset 265,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
