Maharashtra Approves ₹324 Crore for 500 New Rural Offices

The Maharashtra government has approved the construction of 500 new Gram Panchayat office buildings under the Revised Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) for FY 2025–26, with a total outlay of ₹324.28 crore.

The initiative aims to strengthen rural governance by providing administrative infrastructure in villages that either lack Gram Panchayat buildings or currently operate from unsafe or inadequate structures. Of the total, 127 offices will be constructed in the Vidarbha region, with 73 in Amravati Division and 54 in Nagpur Division, marking a substantial investment in eastern Maharashtra.

Each selected Gram Panchayat will receive ₹25 lakh—₹20 lakh for construction and ₹5 lakh for a Citizen Service Centre (CSC) to facilitate digital governance and public utility services. Funding will follow a 60:40 ratio between the Centre and the State.

Eligible villages must have a population of over 3,000 and meet criteria related to existing infrastructure. Zilla Parishads and district administrations have been directed to initiate construction after land and legal clearances, with an emphasis on transparency, standardised designs, and strict project monitoring.
