Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin recently laid the foundation stone for a new manufacturing facility of ADATA Semiconductor Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Taiwan-based ADATA Technology, at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in the state. The upcoming plant will manufacture DRAM memory modules and flash drives.
The project was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on January 8, 2024, and entails a committed investment of ₹931 crore. It is projected to generate 823 new employment opportunities, according to Guidance Tamil Nadu.
ADATA, a global leader in memory solutions and the first Taiwanese firm to establish memory module manufacturing operations in India, represents a significant boost to Tamil Nadu’s semiconductor ambitions under the India Semiconductor Mission. The investment comes at a crucial time, as global supply constraints in DRAM continue to impact smartphone and electronics manufacturing worldwide.
