The construction of the Space Park project in Thiruvananthapuram is set to begin in May, following the completion of the financial evaluation of three companies. Approval is expected next week.
The technical evaluation concluded last week, and K-Space Park CEO G. Levin stated, "The lowest bidder will be selected from the financial bids, with finalization expected by the last week of January. The work order is likely to be issued in April."
The project has secured a ₹241 crore loan from NABARD to develop the Common Facility Centre and Research & Development Centre. These key facilities will be built on 3.5 acres of the 18.5-acre site allocated by the state government at Technopark Phase IV, Pallippuram. Currently, the Space Park office operates from a rented space in Pattom.
Aimed at establishing India as a global hub for space technology and research, the Space Park will attract international startups and foster advancements in launch vehicle manufacturing, satellites, ground systems (including radar and antennas), and satellite data applications. The R&D centre will also support startup incubators and cutting-edge research, strengthening India's leadership in space innovation.
