Larsen & Toubro's (L&T) construction arm has successfully secured a substantial contract to establish an electrification system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project in India. This significant order, acquired from an authorized Japanese agency, is a pivotal development for L&T Construction's railways strategic business group.
Under this mega contract, L&T Construction's railways strategic business group will undertake the construction of a high-speed electrification system covering 508 route kilometers for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, commonly known as the bullet train project. This advanced electrification system is designed to facilitate train speeds of up to 320 km per hour, marking a major stride in enhancing rail transportation efficiency.
The funding for the MAHSR project is provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with the implementation carried out by an authorized Japanese agency acting on behalf of the National High-Speed Rail Corporation. This venture signifies a key collaboration between Indian and Japanese entities to propel the development of high-speed rail infrastructure in the region.
