HAL Lands ₹2,312 Cr Contract for 8 Dornier Jets!

The Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹2,312 crore contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the procurement of eight Dornier 228 aircraft, along with associated operational role equipment, for the Indian Coast Guard under the Buy (Indian) category.

The acquisition forms part of the Coast Guard’s broader capacity enhancement plan, which aims to expand its fleet of air assets — comprising aircraft and helicopters — from the current strength of 80 to 100 by 2030.

The agreement was signed by HAL’s Transport Aircraft Division based in Kanpur, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.
