Tunneling Toward Tomorrow: Indian Railways Goes High-Tech with Swiss

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled plans for a strategic partnership between Indian Railways and the Swiss railway system to enhance operational efficiency. The collaboration aims to tap into Switzerland's expertise in the hub-and-spoke model and advanced tunnelling technology, encompassing both modern and conventional railway technologies.

In discussions held during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the potential for a memorandum of understanding (MoU). He commended Switzerland's seamless interconnectivity across diverse transport modes, such as trains, buses, cable cars, and metro systems.

The Minister's emphasis on embracing global best practices underscores a dedication to elevating the efficiency and connectivity of India's extensive railway network. The envisioned collaboration seeks to integrate Swiss innovations into Indian Railways, fostering advancements in operational practices and technological applications.
