Ram Setu Opens Path to Progress: Gadkari Inaugurates Rs 102 Crore Bridge in Rajasthan

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated a significant infrastructure milestone on January 21, 2024 – a two-lane bridge spanning two kilometers along National Highway-112 in the Jodhpur-Barmer railway section. This project, executed at a cost of Rs 102 crore, promises to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity and alleviating traffic challenges.

During the inauguration ceremony, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, joining remotely via video conferencing, highlighted the transformative impact of the newly constructed bridge, commonly referred to as 'Ram Setu.' Emphasizing its role in mitigating traffic congestion at level crossings in Balotra, the Chief Minister expressed optimism about the positive effects on religious tourism. Specifically, he noted that the overbridge would facilitate the movement of devotees traveling to religious destinations such as Jasol Dham, Nakoda, and Brahmadham Yatra.

The comprehensive project also includes the completion of two underpasses, a crucial aspect contributing to the relief of city traffic congestion. Chief Minister Sharma assured that the state government is committed to expediting various approvals, ensuring a time-bound reinforcement of the road network.

The Chief Minister further elaborated on the broader benefits of the strengthened road network, anticipating positive outcomes for both local residents and the industrial sector. Improved connectivity is expected to catalyze growth in the region's industrial landscape, ultimately translating into increased employment opportunities and economic development. The inauguration of this bridge marks a significant step towards fostering sustainable infrastructure and economic prosperity in the region.
