Medanta to Invest ₹1,200 Crore in New Super Specialty Hospital in Mumbai

Global Health, the operator of the renowned Medanta hospital chain, has unveiled plans for a significant expansion with a proposed ₹1,200 crore super specialty hospital in Mumbai. The new facility, slated to feature over 500 beds, aims to provide cutting-edge medical treatments and services to the city's residents and surrounding areas.

The investment will be evenly split between debt financing and internal accruals. With regulatory approvals pending, the hospital's construction is expected to span three to four years. Once completed, it will rank as the second-largest private hospital in Mumbai, following the 750-bed Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute.

The project includes the acquisition of 8,859 square meters of land in Oshiwara, Mumbai, acquired in a public auction from the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in July. This move marks a major step in Medanta’s expansion strategy, which also includes planned hospital expansions across India.

Medanta's current network includes large hospitals in Gurugram, Lucknow, Patna, and upcoming facilities in Noida and Indore. The new Mumbai hospital will further solidify Medanta's position as a leader in the Indian healthcare sector, providing high-quality, specialized medical care.
