Nxtra's Rs. 600 Crore Data Center Reshapes the Digital Landscape in West bengal

Nxtra Data Limited, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, is set to revolutionize digital infrastructure in West Bengal with its new hyperscale data center project in Rajarhat. With a substantial investment of Rs. 600 crore, construction commenced in November 2022, and the data center is expected to be operational by 2024. Boasting a capacity of 25 MW, this project marks Nxtra's foray into large-scale data centers in East India, addressing the region's unmet demand for such facilities.

Strategically located in Rajarhat, North 24 Parganas, the data center will cater to enterprises and global cloud players, offering secure and reliable data storage and processing solutions. The initiative aligns seamlessly with the West Bengal government's emphasis on digital infrastructure development, aiming to attract investments in the IT sector. Notably, Nxtra's commitment to sustainability shines through, as the data center will be powered by renewable energy sources.

The anticipated impact is extensive, with the project expected to bolster the IT sector in West Bengal, creating employment opportunities and improving data storage accessibility for businesses in the region. Additionally, it is poised to attract further investments in the digital infrastructure sector, contributing significantly to the overall digital transformation of Eastern India.

However, challenges such as potential delays due to construction and infrastructure hurdles, competition from existing data centers in other parts of India, and the need to attract and retain skilled personnel are factors that the project may contend with. Ongoing monitoring and adaptation will be crucial to navigating these challenges successfully.

As on January, 2024.Project building has begun. 60% of the project is done. The project will finish in December 2024.
