Vraj Iron and Steel Ltd is set to scale up its production capabilities after securing board approval for a major greenfield integrated steel plant in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. By taking over a strategic project site in Village-Chapka from its promoter entity, Gopal Sponge and Power Private Limited, Vraj will seamlessly inherit all existing MoEFCC and regulatory environmental clearances.
The ₹450 crore project—funded through a 2:1 mix of debt and internal equity—aims to leverage Bastar's abundant iron ore reserves and lucrative state industrial incentives to drive down raw material logistics costs. Phase 1 of the facility will inject 201,000 TPA of sponge iron and 201,000 TPA of MS billet capacity into the company's portfolio, backed by 30 MW of captive power generation. Expected to be operational within 30 months of breaking ground, the new plant marks a massive leap forward from Vraj's current capacity baseline.
