Jindal India Power, a part of the BC Jindal Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for coal procurement from the Naini coal mine to support operations at its 1,200 MW thermal power plant in Derang, located in Odisha’s Angul district.
Under the agreement, the company will procure approximately 8 lakh metric tonnes of coal as part of its strategy to diversify fuel sourcing and strengthen long-term supply security. The coal supply will support the plant’s two 600 MW generating units, ensuring stable fuel availability and improved operational efficiency.
The collaboration is aimed at enhancing operational reliability and reinforcing energy security for the thermal power facility, which has been operational since 2015. Company officials stated that the agreement aligns with Jindal India Power’s broader focus on operational excellence, cost optimisation, and sustainable long-term growth within the power sector.
Jindal India Power also highlighted its existing portfolio of power purchase agreements with multiple state distribution companies and large consumers across Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, and Noida. The agreement reflects the company’s continued efforts to secure dependable fuel linkages and maintain consistent power generation from its Odisha-based thermal power assets.
