BEL Secures ₹1,640 Crore Deal for ‘Atulya’ Air Defence Radars

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU, has signed a contract worth ₹1,640 crore with the Ministry of Defence for the supply of Air Defence Fire Control Radars (Atulya) to the Indian Army.

Designed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by BEL under the “Make in India” initiative, the Atulya radars are state-of-the-art systems engineered to deliver high-performance aerial threat detection and tracking in all weather conditions, both day and night.

These radars are equipped with integrated Electronic Counter Measure (ECM) capabilities and support a wide range of tactical functions, including air surveillance, target acquisition, and tracking of multiple airborne threats—making them a vital asset for India's layered air defence strategy.

This strategic order further strengthens BEL’s position as a key player in India’s defence modernisation drive and highlights its contribution toward technological self-reliance and national security.
