JWL Secures ₹242 Crore Freight Wagon Contract from GATX India

Jupiter Wagons Ltd (JWL), a leading mobility solutions provider across rail, road, and marine sectors, has secured a Rs 242.41-crore contract from GATX India, the country’s largest private railcar lessor, for the manufacture and supply of 583 specialised freight wagons.

The order includes BLSS (ISO container carriers), ACT2 (bi-level SUV carriers), BOXNHL (high-capacity open wagons), and BVCM wagons for transporting bulk commodities, vehicles, and containerised freight.

BLSS wagons are engineered for high axle load capacity and efficient port-to-hinterland container movement.

ACT2 wagons can transport up to 10 SUVs per unit, offering minimal handling, enhanced vehicle protection, and quicker turnaround times.

BOXNHL wagons, with payload capacities exceeding 70 tonnes and enhanced braking systems, are ideal for heavy-haul freight such as coal and iron ore.

These high-capacity wagons are designed for long-distance, heavy-duty freight corridors, supporting India’s modernising logistics infrastructure.

The deal underscores JWL’s capability in delivering complex, large-scale rolling stock projects and enhances GATX India’s operational efficiency and cargo handling capacity.
