JWIL Infra, in consortium with Vishnusurya Projects and Infra and IDE Technologies India, has secured a ₹2,217 crore contract from the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) for the development of a 60 million litres per day (MLD) seawater desalination plant.
The project will be implemented at Mullakadu village in Tuticorin district under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. The contract includes:
6 months for fulfilling conditions precedent, 30 months for construction, 15 years of operation and maintenance (O&M), post which the plant will be transferred
Designed to address the increasing water demand in the region, the facility will ensure a sustainable and reliable water supply for both industrial units and local communities, reducing dependence on traditional freshwater sources.
Strategically located in a key industrial zone, the desalination plant will support SIPCOT’s industrial infrastructure, aligning with Tamil Nadu’s long-term vision of enabling industrial growth through robust and resilient water solutions.
This project further reinforces JWIL Infra’s leadership in the water infrastructure sector, particularly in large-scale desalination and PPP-based delivery models.
