BCPL Railway Infrastructure has been awarded a ₹71 crore contract to upgrade the electric traction system in the Kharagpur-Bhadrak section of the Kharagpur Division under the South Eastern Railway. This project will be executed in collaboration with Rail Vikas Nigam and marks a significant development in enhancing rail infrastructure.
The scope of the work includes the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of an upgraded traction system, transitioning from 1x25 kV to 2x25 kV. This upgrade is crucial to achieving a 3,000 MT freight loading target and supporting safer and faster train operations at speeds of up to 160 km per hour.
The project, set to be completed over a span of 16 months, will modernize the Kharagpur-Bhadrak rail section, facilitating improved efficiency and reliability in train movement. It will play a key role in increasing the overall capacity and performance of this vital rail route.
Classified as a contract, this order reinforces BCPL’s expertise in railway infrastructure development, a field in which it has excelled for years. Formerly known as Bapi Construction Electrical Engineering, BCPL has been instrumental in connecting various regions of the country through its rail infrastructure projects.
