HBL Engineering Limited (HBL) has secured major contracts from Western Railway for the deployment of the indigenous automatic train protection system, Kavach. Letters of Acceptance (LOAs) have been issued for implementing Kavach over a network of 428 kilometers, covering 48 railway stations.
The combined value of these contracts is ₹145.83 Crores, inclusive of 18% GST, highlighting Western Railway’s continued focus on enhancing passenger safety through advanced technology.
Kavach—a homegrown Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)—is engineered to prevent train accidents by automatically applying brakes if the driver fails to respond in time. Its large-scale implementation across the Western Railway network will boost operational safety and passenger confidence.
This strategic win reinforces HBL Engineering’s leadership in railway safety technologies and represents a key milestone in the broader rollout of Kavach across the Indian Railways. The project is expected to significantly enhance both safety and operational efficiency for millions of daily passengers.
