The Animal Resources Development (ARD) Department has commissioned a state-of-the-art Banglar Dairy milk processing and milk products plant at its Haringhata campus in Nadia district.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee virtually inaugurated the facility on December 18, 2025, during the Business and Industry Conclave. The plant has an initial milk processing capacity of one lakh litres per day, which can be expanded to two lakh litres. It will manufacture a range of dairy products, including curd, paneer, ghee and lassi, under the Banglar Dairy brand to cater to rising consumer demand.
Constructed at a cost of ₹65.58 crore, the facility incorporates energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable technologies aimed at reducing water and power consumption while minimising effluent discharge. Officials said the plant will ensure a consistent supply of high-quality dairy products through advanced processing systems and standardised quality protocols.
The project is expected to generate around 2,000 direct jobs and nearly 49,000 indirect employment opportunities. It will also help boost farmers’ incomes by strengthening milk procurement, improving productivity, and modernising the dairy value chain across West Bengal.
