The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has signed a concession agreement with a consortium of Trident Agrocom Exports and Man Infraconstruction to develop a ₹285 crore integrated agri-processing and storage facility at the port.
Spread across 27 acres at JNPA, the project is exempt from Environmental Clearance (EC) and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) restrictions. Designed to handle approximately 1.2 million tonnes of agricultural commodities annually, it will support processing, sorting, packing, and laboratory testing to meet stringent food safety and trade standards.
Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) basis, the facility will feature advanced storage solutions, including cold storage, pre-cooling, frozen storage, and dry warehouses, to minimize post-harvest losses. It will accommodate both perishable goods—such as meat, fresh fruits, and vegetables—and non-perishable products like non-basmati rice, maize, marine items, and spices. Cutting-edge technologies for shelf life enhancement and automated processing will enhance quality, reduce wastage, and improve trade efficiency.
The facility will also include an export packhouse, dedicated loading and unloading zones, administrative infrastructure, and green spaces to promote sustainability. Additionally, it will function as a key distribution hub for both domestic and imported agricultural commodities.
