McCain Confirms ₹3,800 Cr MP Frozen Food Plant

Global frozen food major McCain Foods has announced a ₹3,800 crore investment to establish a frozen potato products manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh, marking one of the largest investments in the state’s food processing sector in recent years.

The Canadian multinational has been allocated nearly 70 acres of land in Phase 3 of the Agar Malwa industrial area. Of the total proposed investment, ₹1,800 crore will be deployed in the first phase. The project is expected to create a reliable and long-term market for potato farmers across the Malwa region and neighbouring districts, reducing their exposure to price volatility in the fresh produce market through value-added processing.

The facility is also expected to function as an anchor unit, catalysing the development of ancillary industries, cold-chain infrastructure and logistics services in the region. Highlighting the project’s strategic importance, MPIDC Ujjain Executive Director Rajesh Rathod said that large-scale food processing investments such as McCain’s are aligned with Madhya Pradesh’s efforts to leverage its strong agricultural base, attract global players and generate rural-linked employment through agro-industrial integration.

The investment reinforces the state’s broader industrial development strategy, with a focus on employment generation and strengthening the agri-processing ecosystem.
