Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated Asia’s largest orange processing plant, the Patanjali Mega Food & Herbal Park, at MIHAN, Nagpur. Established by Patanjali, the facility aims to revolutionize orange processing in the region.
Chief Minister Fadnavis, while paying tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, highlighted the collaborative vision of Nitin Gadkari, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev, and Acharya Balkrishna in bringing the food park to life. The facility will serve as a centralized hub for sorting, grading, and storing oranges, enabling farmers to store their produce and sell it at optimal market conditions, thereby boosting their income. Currently, Nagpur’s orange yield per acre stands at around 4–5 tonnes, and Patanjali aims to increase it to 25–30 tonnes.
Patanjali has already invested approximately ₹1,000 crore in setting up the plant, with an additional ₹500 crore investment planned. The facility, equipped with state-of-the-art machinery sourced from India and abroad, boasts a processing capacity of 800 tonnes of oranges per day.
Swami Ramdev emphasized that the Nagpur plant will produce 100% pesticide-free, preservative-free, and sugar-free orange juice for both domestic and global markets. The establishment of this facility is expected to drive farmer prosperity, stimulate industrial growth, and solidify Nagpur’s position as a major hub for orange processing.
