Shree Maroli Vibhag Khand Udyog Sahakari Mandli Limited is spearheading a significant initiative to establish a Molasses-Based Distillery Unit in Jalalpore, Navsari district, Gujarat, with an investment of ₹110 Crores. This unit, anticipated to have a production capacity of 90 Kilo Litres Per Day (KLPD) of ethanol, holds the potential to significantly contribute to India's ethanol blending targets.
One of the project's key highlights is its molasses-based production approach, utilizing molasses, a by-product of sugar production, as a sustainable raw material for ethanol manufacturing. This strategy aligns with resource efficiency principles, converting waste into a valuable biofuel resource.
Anticipated benefits of the project include increased ethanol production, supporting the government's objectives of reducing reliance on imported fuel and promoting renewable energy sources. Furthermore, the distillery may create a new market for sugarcane molasses, offering economic opportunities to local sugarcane farmers in the region.
Apart from economic advantages, the project holds environmental benefits by reducing the environmental footprint of sugar production. Converting molasses into ethanol mitigates waste generation, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
