IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with KGA International Trades to launch the Holiday Inn Express Kottayam Changanassery in Kerala, set to open in the first quarter of 2027. This new development supports IHG’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in high-potential secondary markets across India.
This will be IHG’s second project with the KGA Group, following their successful collaboration on Crowne Plaza Kochi. Commenting on the new venture, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “This hotel will introduce international brand standards to a high-growth micro market in Kerala that currently lacks quality hospitality options.” He emphasized that the Holiday Inn Express brand is well-suited to meet the rising demand from corporate, transit, and leisure travellers in the region.
KG Abraham, Chairman of the KGA Group, and KC Eapen, CEO, noted that the project aligns with their goal of bringing modern infrastructure and new business opportunities to Changanassery. Located within the upcoming KGA Mall, the hotel will feature 90 rooms, banquet facilities for over 100 guests, a variety of dining options, a multiplex, a swimming pool, and a family entertainment centre. Its strategic location near Changanassery’s business hub positions it to draw demand from surrounding cities such as Kochi, Alleppey, Kollam, and Thiruvananthapuram.
