Bihar's ₹812 Crore Industrial Leap: Five New Zones on the Horizon

The Bihar Cabinet has approved land acquisition worth ₹812 crore for the development of five new industrial zones across the state, marking a major push toward industrialization and infrastructure growth.

A total of 2,627 acres will be acquired, with Begusarai receiving the largest allocation—991 acres at a cost of ₹351 crore. This is followed by Patna (500 acres, ₹219 crore), Madhepura (548.87 acres, ₹41.26 crore), Saharsa (420.62 acres, ₹88.01 crore), and Siwan (167.34 acres, ₹113 crore). The Infrastructure Development Authority, Patna, has been tasked with executing the acquisition.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the acquisition of 1,300 acres in Gaya district for setting up an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor project.

Other key decisions from the Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, include:

₹35.14 crore for establishing a textile manufacturing unit in Guraru industrial area, Gaya, expected to create 237 jobs.

₹290.91 crore for Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) surveys at six proposed greenfield airports to support future aviation infrastructure.

₹137.17 crore sanctioned for land acquisition to expand Gaya Airport, including installation of CAT I lighting to enable all-weather operations.

A total of 30 decisions were made during the meeting, reflecting the state’s continued focus on industrial development, employment generation, and infrastructure enhancement.
