Mark Steels Plan to Expand Steel & Captive Power Plant in West Bengal

Mark Steels Limited is considering constructing a new captive power plant and expanding its current steel mill at Jagannathdihi, which is located near Puruliya, West Bengal. The plant's ability to manufacture sponge iron, TMT bars, rods, flats, and electricity is expected to expand from 150,000 tonnes per year (TPA) to 300,000 TPA as a result of this project's planned improvements. The capacity to generate captive electricity ranges from 7 MW to 19 MW. The expansion of the company's steel production is driving up the demand for energy, and the project's goal is to fulfill that need while also reducing the business's dependency on the public power system. Total Cost of the Project: 229 Crores

The Features of the Project

The addition of a brand-new rolling mill with a capacity of 0.15 MTPA was completed. The establishment of a brand-new power plant with a capacity of 19 megawatts,

Installation of supplementary power producing apparatus,Implementation of cutting-edge strategies for improving energy efficiency Integration with the already operational power plant to ensure smooth operation.

As on November 2023, The project is currently in the stage of being approved currently awaiting approval from the government.
