Power Up the Future: Bid for NTPC's Massive 250 MW BESS Project at Madhya Pradesh

NTPC has initiated the bidding process for the main package of a 250 MW/500 MWh grid-connected standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to be developed at its Gadarwara site in Madhya Pradesh and Solapur site in Maharashtra. This significant project marks a step forward in enhancing the energy storage capabilities within the region, aiming to bolster grid stability and integrate renewable energy sources more efficiently.

The scope of work encompasses the supply, packing, forwarding, and transportation of containerized battery storage units, battery inverters or power conversion units (PCU), and energy management systems (EMS) to the respective project sites. This process includes ensuring inland transit insurance to safeguard the equipment during transport.

Furthermore, the project includes the comprehensive design and engineering of the BESS, alongside the integration of the BESS and EMS with the grid and Balance of System (BoS) infrastructure. The successful bidder will also be responsible for providing the associated warranty, and comprehensive operations and maintenance (O&M) services, ensuring the systems are maintained and function optimally.

Supervision of the installation, erection of the BESS, and the integration and testing of the battery systems, power conversion systems (PCS), and EMS will also fall under the contractor's purview. This ensures that the BESS is seamlessly integrated into the existing grid infrastructure, facilitating efficient energy storage and distribution.

Interested bidders must submit their proposals by the 18th of July, 2024. This project is a crucial component of NTPC’s strategy to advance energy storage solutions and support the transition to more sustainable and reliable energy systems in India.
