Garments to Green Gables: Shree Renga Polymers' Rs 100 Crore Transformation

Karur-based garment company, Shree Renga Polymers, is set to embark on a transformative journey with a Rs 100 crore investment to enhance its production capacity. This expansion project involves the establishment of a cutting-edge greenfield PET Bottle recycling facility in Thennilai and Manavasi, situated in the western region of Tamil Nadu.

The state-of-the-art plant will leverage the latest recycling technologies to convert waste PET bottles into value-added products such as fibers, yarns, and garments. The strategic investment aims to boost the company's rPSF (recycled Polyester Staple Fiber) capacity by a significant sixfold, reaching 130 tons per day. The company envisions the incorporation of its products into technical textiles, woven fabrics, and knitted goods.

This ambitious initiative was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024 in Chennai. The project is anticipated to generate 500 new employment opportunities in the region. Additionally, the expansion holds the potential to elevate the company's manufacturing revenue to an impressive Rs 500 crore.

Notably, Shree Renga Polymers had previously ventured into sustainable fashion in 2020 with the introduction of Ecoline Clothing, a brand committed to eco-friendly practices. The brand focuses on crafting garments using yarns spun from recycled plastic fibers and organic cotton. Employing an innovative process, the company blends organic cotton with fibers derived from recycled PET bottles. Through a meticulous transformation involving the melting of PET flakes at high temperatures, these fibers are converted into garments, further solidifying the company's dedication to environmental sustainability.
