ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has initiated the land acquisition process in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, for an integrated steel plant in Rajayapeta.
An initial payment has been made, and possession is expected soon, paving the way for construction on this greenfield project. With a planned capacity of 7.3 MTPA, the plant supports India's ambition of reaching 300 MTPA crude steel capacity by 2030 and aligns with the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the investment, stating, "We are committed to providing all necessary support to AM/NS India. This mega steel plant will generate substantial employment and drive socio-economic growth."
Lakshmi Mittal, Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal, highlighted the project’s significance: "This investment strengthens our presence in Indian steelmaking and contributes to Viksit Bharat. It marks a proud moment for AM/NS India and Andhra Pradesh, enhancing India's role in global manufacturing."
