DHL eCommerce Invests Rs 250 Million to Expand India Operations

DHL eCommerce, the German logistics giant, is set to significantly bolster its operations in India with a substantial Rs 250-million investment plan aimed for completion by 2030. This strategic outlay focuses on several key areas to enhance the company’s capabilities and infrastructure in the country.

The investment will be used to expand DHL’s aircraft fleet capacity by 35 percent, supporting increased logistics and delivery efficiency. Additionally, the company plans to triple its electric delivery vehicle fleet to 1,000 units, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint. Two new major hubs will be established, and 30 new facilities will be constructed across India to improve the reach and effectiveness of its operations.

A notable portion of the investment, Rs 100 million, will be directed towards digitization efforts. This includes implementing advanced technologies to streamline operations and improve service delivery. This investment is part of a larger Rs 500-million commitment from DHL’s parent company, aimed at bolstering its overall presence and capabilities in India.

DHL’s expansion also involves an upgrade to its aviation fleet, including the addition of two new Boeing 737s and the incorporation of more fuel-efficient widebody aircraft. Furthermore, the company is exploring acquisition opportunities in the Indian logistics sector to enhance its operational capabilities and access top-tier talent.

Overall, these initiatives reflect DHL eCommerce’s strategic vision to strengthen its position in the Indian market, improve service efficiency, and contribute to sustainable logistics practices while supporting its growth objectives.
