Egypt-based engineering and energy services firm ENPPI has secured a major international contract worth $355 million for the execution of the Integrated Budour–Northeast Birba Project in Oman, awarded by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The project represents ENPPI’s first major entry into the Sultanate of Oman, marking an important step in the company’s regional expansion strategy across the Gulf energy market. The contract was awarded after competitive bidding against several leading global engineering and energy firms.
Under the agreement, ENPPI will act as the main turnkey contractor, responsible for delivering the full project lifecycle. This includes engineering design, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up activities, and six months of operational support after handover.
The development focuses on significantly increasing gas processing capacity at the Birba Gathering Station. Output is expected to rise from 1.4 million to 4.2 million standard cubic meters per day, while maintaining oil processing capacity at around 4,000 cubic meters per day.
In addition to capacity expansion, the project will introduce upgrades to gas processing and utilisation systems, designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact. A key objective is the reduction of gas flaring through improved recovery systems and modern operational practices.
The initiative aligns with PDO’s long-term sustainability strategy, which aims to eliminate routine gas flaring by 2030 and improve environmental performance across its operations.
For ENPPI, the contract strengthens its growing international portfolio and reinforces its reputation as a reliable contractor capable of delivering large-scale, complex energy infrastructure projects that meet global standards for quality, safety and sustainability.
Beyond its technical scope, the award also highlights increasing cooperation between the Egyptian and Omani energy sectors. It reflects broader regional efforts to expand the presence of Egyptian petroleum and engineering companies in international markets, particularly across the Gulf region.
With this milestone project, ENPPI further consolidates its position as a key regional player in energy infrastructure development, while contributing to more efficient and sustainable gas production systems in Oman.
