Gallantt Ispat Limited’s Board of Directors has approved a capital expenditure (capex) plan of ₹1,014.98 crore to significantly expand the company’s integrated steel plant located in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Under this expansion plan, the company will increase its steel billet production capacity from 5,28,000 tonnes to 8,00,250 tonnes. The rolling mill capacity will be enhanced from 5,28,000 tonnes to 8,05,200 tonnes, and sponge iron production will see a marginal increase from 5,44,500 tonnes to 5,60,000 tonnes. The entire capex will be financed through internal accruals.
The investment also includes a major upgrade to the company’s captive power infrastructure. The current 78 MW capacity of the thermal and waste heat recovery power plant will be expanded to 100 MW. Additionally, Gallantt Ispat will establish a new 100 MW captive solar power plant, further bolstering its sustainability initiatives and energy independence.
As all the capacity expansions are part of brownfield projects, the company has targeted completion by March 2026.
Gallantt Ispat is a leading steel manufacturer with operations in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Kutch, Gujarat. It produces a wide range of steel products and operates captive power plants to efficiently meet its internal energy requirements.
