Giridhan Metal Private Limited intends to expand its existing Sponge Iron Project in Jamuria, Bardhaman District, West Bengal. The enlargement project is now in the conceptual/planning stages and is projected to cost roughly 1000 crores. The existing sponge iron plant's capacity will be increased from 3.96 to 3.72 lakh tonnes per year (LTPA) as part of the expansion project. In addition, a new waste heat recovery boiler (WHRB) will be installed to generate power from waste heat generated by the sponge iron factory.
The expansion project is estimated to create approximately 175 permanent and temporary job opportunities. It will also contribute to the expansion of West Bengal's steel industry. The enlargement project is planned to be finished within 18-24 months of work beginning. Here are some of the key benefits of the expansion project:

As of September 2023, The project is now in the stage of construction being started the work on the project will be finished in 2024, 2025 or 2026 It has been decided to hire a local contractor.
