Vedanta’s Deep-Drilling Leap for India’s Minerals

Vedanta has deployed India's first high-speed hydrostatic portable rig for mineral exploration across two projects in Chhattisgarh, targeting gold and critical minerals. Engineered for challenging terrains, this innovative rig drills up to 1,000 meters—vastly outperforming standard 300–400 meter limits—while minimizing setup and mobilization time.

To date, Vedanta has secured 10 critical mineral blocks (including gold, nickel-chromium-PGE, graphite, and rare earth elements) and successfully bid for the Punnam manganese block in Andhra Pradesh. With approximately 80% of India's mineral resources still unexplored, this technology marks a major leap toward safer, faster, and less intrusive resource discovery.
