Kaynes Semicon Secures Govt Nod for Rs 3,300-Crore Chip Plant in Gujarat

Kaynes Semicon has received approval from the Union Cabinet for its Rs 3,307-crore semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) unit in Sanand, Gujarat. This marks the fifth project in India to gain approval under the government's Rs 76,000-crore semiconductor incentive scheme.

The 46-acre facility will produce six million chips per day, catering to industries like automotive, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and more. Kaynes has already begun preparing the land for construction, aiming to roll out its first batch of chips by March next year.

The plant is expected to create around 10,000 jobs, with 5,000 directly employed at the facility and the remainder indirectly. This project is a significant step in boosting India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

Kaynes Semicon has already secured three international customers from Singapore, Taiwan, and the USA. Additionally, it has partnered with Singapore-based Lightspeed Photonics to provide advanced packaging solutions.

This new facility is poised to strengthen India’s position in the global semiconductor market, aligning with the country’s goal of becoming a hub for high-tech manufacturing.
