Karnataka Soaps & Detergents (KSDL) is embarking on a strategic expansion initiative, aiming to diversify its product portfolio and extend its presence in the northern Indian market. The state-owned enterprise is gearing up to introduce a range of innovative soap products, including Mysore Sandal Wave Turmeric, Mysore Sandal Wave Lime, and Mysore Sandal Wave Deo. Complementing these offerings are the gel category products, such as Mysore Sandal Shower Gel, Mysore Sandal Gold Shower Gel, and Mysore Sandal Millennium Shower Gel. Additionally, a transparent bathing bar and scented candles will be part of the new lineup.
One notable inclusion is the Mysore Sandal Aqua, a premium mineral packaged drinking water produced at the KSDL plant in Shivamogga. The shower gel products are designed with a contemporary appeal, targeting a youthful demographic. Recognizing the significance of the soap segment, which currently contributes over 90 percent of the company's revenue, KSDL is strategically aligning its offerings to cater to the specific demands and preferences of consumers in the northern states of India.
The decision to introduce these new soap variants was made during a high-level meeting of KSDL, chaired by Minister for Large Industries, M.B. Patil. In addition to the product expansion, KSDL is planning to establish more outlets in Bengaluru city and various parts of Karnataka. The diverse product range of KSDL already includes over 50 different items, spanning soaps, detergents, agarbathis, cosmetics, and handwash. The upcoming soap variants are anticipated to be available in retail outlets, with a special focus on airport shops.
This strategic move not only signifies KSDL's commitment to innovation but also reflects its responsiveness to evolving consumer preferences. As the company continues to broaden its offerings and geographic presence, it aims to reinforce its position as a prominent player in the soap and detergent industry.
