The Kerala Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (KICDC) has announced that the Palakkad Industrial Smart City—part of the Kochi–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor—will be developed in a single phase.
Construction is scheduled to commence by the end of October 2025. A coordination meeting with the contracting consortium Dilip Buildcon–PSP Projects and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) is planned for next week.
The Central government has already released ₹313.5 crore, and the Kerala government has handed over 330 acres for the project. KICDC aims to complete infrastructure development within 42 months, after which land allotment to industries will begin, subject to the availability of further Central funds.
Despite the phased land transfer process, all infrastructure works will be carried out on the land already acquired. The project is being executed by a special purpose vehicle (SPV), KICDC, jointly formed by KINFRA and NICDIT with equal equity participation.
Among the 12 Industrial Smart Cities planned across India, Kerala leads in procedural progress, having completed major land acquisition—largely funded by KIIFB—and finalised all tendering processes.
