SKF India (Industrial) has completed a key phase of its localisation strategy for India and Southeast Asia, unveiling an investment plan of ₹800–950 crore by 2030.
As part of this initiative, the company has launched new manufacturing lines for medium deep-groove ball bearings (150 mm diameter) in Ahmedabad, spherical roller bearings (180–320 mm diameter) in Nilai, Malaysia, and UC-range ball bearings in Pune. These expansions aim to reduce import dependence, strengthen supply chain resilience, and support critical sectors such as railways, renewables, infrastructure, and mining.
The planned investment will enhance manufacturing capacity, integrate advanced technologies, and further support the Make in India initiative, including the establishment of a new facility in Pune by 2028.
According to Mukund Vasudevan, President – India & Southeast Asia and Managing Director of SKF India (Industrial), the localisation drive is now fully operational, aligning production closely with customer requirements and creating long-term strategic value for the region.
