Suzuki's Fifth Biogas Plant to Boost Rural Mobility in Gujarat

Suzuki Motor Corporation has finalized a three-party MoU with Suzuki R&D Center India, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and Banas Dairy to establish a fifth biogas production plant in Gujarat. The agreement aims to enhance rural mobility using biogas fuel. The signing ceremony was held at the Banas Dairy Sanadar Plant in Banaskantha district, with key figures such as Banas Dairy’s Chairman Shankar Chaudhary, NDDB’s Chairman Meenesh Shah, and Suzuki’s President Toshihiro Suzuki in attendance. Around 2,500 dairy farmers from the region also participated in the event.

The collaboration involves setting up four biogas plants in Banaskantha, with the new agreement adding a fifth plant in Tharad. This initiative aims to support clean and affordable transportation for rural communities by fueling Maruti Suzuki’s CNG vehicles with biogas. The service will initially launch in Banaskantha, providing a sustainable transport solution for the region's rural citizens.

President Toshihiro Suzuki emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting that the collaboration with Banas Dairy and NDDB will foster new business ventures and lifestyle models. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the development and sustainability of Banaskantha district.
