Vedanta's Mega-Mine to Mega-Plant: A Green Aluminum Expansion

Vedanta is finalizing the location for a fully green aluminium plant, Chairman Anil Agarwal announced. The company plans to expand aluminium production while integrating renewable energy, marking a pioneering move towards "complete green metal" production.

This initiative aligns with Vedanta’s ongoing demerger, which will establish four independent entities focused on aluminium, oil and gas, power, iron and steel, and base metals. The restructuring has been approved and is set for completion in the first quarter of the next fiscal year.

Vedanta Aluminium is expanding its production capacity by three million tonnes, backed by the acquisition of one of Odisha’s largest high-grade bauxite mines. Aluminium plays a crucial role in industrial and infrastructure development, with applications in transportation, defence, and power transmission.
