Vighneshwar Ispat Private Limited's expansion project in Charodha Village, Dharsiwa, Chhattisgarh, upgrades their steel manufacturing capabilities. The project, expected to cost ₹24.25 Crore, includes two expansion stages to modernize and improve manufacturing capacity. Phase 1 upgrades 3 x 8 MT Induction Furnaces to 10 MT and installs 2 12 MT Furnaces. The business proposes to renovate the 58,656 TPA rolling mill and build a 1,486,500 TPA mill in Phase 2. However, air and noise pollution, wastewater contamination, and land use change are possible environmental consequences that require strong mitigating efforts.
Pioneer Enviro Laboratories & Consultants Private Limited's environmental impact assessment identifies risks and suggests solutions. These include pollution management, wastewater treatment, noise reduction, and land use compensation. The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) will decide the project's environmental clearance status based on the EIA report and other considerations. The project must follow certain requirements to reduce its environmental effect and assure sustainability if authorized.
Beyond environmental concerns, the project may affect the area economy and infrastructure. The EIA report also emphasizes the need of resolving community concerns to promote environmental clearance openness and accountability. Vighneshwar Ispat Private Limited may reduce environmental hazards, promote sustainable development, and improve the local economy and community well-being by actively involving stakeholders and adopting rigorous mitigation measures.
