Merck, a leading global science and technology company, has announced the expansion of its manufacturing facility in Peenya, Bengaluru, further strengthening its presence in India.
The investment will add new production lines for filtration hardware systems in 2025, followed by the manufacturing of Pellicon 2 Ultrafiltration Cassettes in 2026. These products are widely used in high-quality purification processes across biopharmaceutical manufacturing and research applications.
The Peenya facility has been a key hub for Merck’s global filtration hardware production since 2006 and began manufacturing consumables, including prefilter cartridges, in 2022. With this expansion, the company aims to further integrate India into its global manufacturing and supply chain network.
The initiative also aligns with the Government of India’s “Make in India” vision, supporting the development of advanced domestic manufacturing capabilities. Tony Qiu, Head of APAC Operations, Life Science Business at Merck, said the expansion will help strengthen global supply chains while fostering local innovation and skill development, noting that these products play a critical role in the production of life-saving medicines and vaccines.
