A total of 61 railway stations across Karnataka have been selected for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at modernising infrastructure and enhancing passenger amenities. The initiative involves an investment of ₹1,981 crore and seeks to transform stations into modern transit hubs with improved facilities and better connectivity.
Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna shared this update during a media interaction in Mysuru following a window trailing inspection of the KSR Bengaluru–Mandya–Mysuru railway section. He noted that key stations identified for redevelopment include KSR Bengaluru, Yesvantpur, and Bengaluru Cantonment, among the busiest in the state.
The redevelopment will focus on upgraded infrastructure, improved passenger services, and seamless multimodal integration to enhance the overall travel experience. In addition, railway development in Karnataka is progressing at scale, with projects worth ₹52,950 crore currently underway across the state.
For the financial year 2026–27, Karnataka has been allocated ₹7,748 crore for railway development, slightly higher than the ₹7,564 crore allocated in the previous year.
The minister also highlighted the rollout of the indigenous Kavach safety system and ongoing progress on road overbridges and underbridges along the Bengaluru–Mysuru route, including the inauguration of ROB No. 431 in the Bengaluru–Kengeri section.
