The Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) has approved the allocation of four interstate transmission system (ISTS) projects to Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) under the regulated tariff mechanism (RTM).
The projects, with a total estimated cost of ₹76.41 crore, are spread across the Western and Eastern Regional grids.
In the Western Region, the scope includes a transmission scheme to connect renewable energy projects at Mandsaur, involving the installation of 220 kV and 400 kV line bays, with commissioning targeted by 2029. Another project, the Western Region Bay Scheme-I at Shujalpur, involves the installation of two 220 kV line bays, expected to be completed by 2027.
In the Eastern Region, the approved works include the installation of a spare 765 kV reactor at the Sundargarh substation in Odisha and a new 220/132 kV interconnecting transformer at the Purnea substation in Bihar. These projects are scheduled for completion by 2028.
The approvals are aimed at strengthening India’s transmission infrastructure and supporting efficient power evacuation and distribution across regions.
