Delhi's Water Lifeline Gets ₹734 Crore Shot in the Arm

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a record fund release of ₹734.95 crore across 68 Assembly constituencies, marking the largest constituency-level allocation in its history.

The funds, distributed under Capital and Revenue Heads, are aimed at upgrading Delhi’s water and sewerage infrastructure. Of the total, ₹408.95 crore has been earmarked for capital projects such as pipeline installation, sewer line replacement, and the construction of underground reservoirs. An additional ₹326 crore has been allocated for maintenance and service improvements to strengthen existing systems.

This decentralised funding model empowers constituencies to address local challenges—from leak repairs to sewage network upgrades—aligned with the government’s vision of inclusive and sustainable urban development.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the DJB has implemented a real-time monitoring and geo-tagging system for all projects. The initiative aims to promote equitable development and deliver a clean, efficient, and uninterrupted water supply across the national capital.
