On November 11, 2025, a high-level delegation from Maharashtra’s Water Resources Department (WRD) visited the Polavaram Project site to evaluate the progress and technical aspects of the water infrastructure.
The ten-member team examined key structures, including the spillway, diaphragm wall, coffer dams, and the hydroelectric power plant. Officials from Andhra Pradesh Water Resources and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures (MEIL) provided detailed briefings on construction stages, design features, and applied technologies. Special focus was given to the Polavaram spillway, one of the largest in the world, designed to manage substantial flood volumes.
The delegation also reviewed advanced engineering methods, construction machinery, and project timelines, highlighting the integration of irrigation and flood control systems. The visit aims to promote knowledge sharing and technical collaboration between the states for large-scale water resource management.
