The Karnataka government has announced a series of drinking water projects in Belagavi district, with a total investment of ₹1,000 crore.
Urban Development and Town Planning Minister Byrathi Suresh said that most of the funds have already been allocated and work is in progress. He noted that the Urban Development Department had released ₹13,500 crore last year for clean drinking water and drainage initiatives across the state. The announcement came after he launched a round-the-clock drinking water project in Mutyanatti, a rural area on the outskirts of Belagavi.
The new facility, with a capacity of five lakh litres, will supply water to northern Belagavi’s rural regions, addressing long-standing shortages. “With this facility, every household will receive continuous water supply, offering a permanent solution,” Suresh said. He also highlighted the involvement of KUIDFC, the Belagavi City Corporation, and other agencies in implementing the project.
