Vizag Collector: Hand Over Meghadri Gadda to GVMC!

The district administration has formally requested the transfer of the Meghadri Gadda reservoir from the Irrigation Department to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).

Vizag Collector Harendhira Prasad urged the Andhra Pradesh Assembly’s estimates panel to recommend funding for the renovation of the Gadda Reservoir, which is currently in a deteriorated state. During a review meeting, the Collector emphasized that transferring the reservoir’s management to GVMC would enable better utilisation of the water resource to address the city’s growing water needs.

Committee Chairman Vegulla Jogeswara Rao underlined the importance of field-specific budgeting and efficient use of state funds for successful development projects. He also stressed that officials should obtain fresh approvals for the reservoir’s renovation and submit proposals to the central government.
