On 19 November 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved 95 new irrigation projects worth ₹394.53 crore to strengthen the state’s canal network.
These projects aim to enhance irrigation capacity across 36,000 hectares, benefiting nearly 9,00,000 farmers and rural households. During a review meeting with the irrigation and water resources department, the Chief Minister stressed the need for timely completion while maintaining high quality standards. The approved works include canal restoration, construction of new irrigation infrastructure, and repairs to existing structures such as bridges, culverts, and watermills. Key regions set to benefit include Purvanchal, Bundelkhand, and Western Uttar Pradesh.
“The vision behind these projects is to ensure reliable irrigation, boost agricultural productivity, and support the rural economy,” said CM Yogi Adityanath.
