The Chhattisgarh government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telangana-based Continental Hospitals to operate a 240-bed super specialty hospital in Jagdalpur, the district headquarters of Bastar.
The hospital, developed under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), is aimed at significantly improving access to advanced healthcare services in the tribal-dominated Bastar region. The MoU was formalised between the Department of Medical Education and Continental Hospitals in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan.
According to Health Secretary Amit Kataria, the project is valued at ₹200 crore, with ₹120 crore funded by the Central government and ₹80 crore by the state. The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has also extended critical support in realizing the project.
Situated on an 11-acre campus, the 10-storey hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical infrastructure, including OPD services, ICU, emergency care, and advanced intensive care units. Key departments will include cardiology, nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, neurology, and neurosurgery.
All services will be provided at affordable government-prescribed rates, delivered by a team of specialist doctors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to equitable and accessible healthcare in underserved regions.
